Sydney Raber is a South Carolina-based sculptor who graduated from Brevard College in May 2024 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sculpture and a minor in History. Her abstract sculptural, illustrative, and collage-based work combines these two areas of focus, drawing heavy inspiration from historical art movements such as Retrofuturism and her embrace of vintage aesthetics both inside and outside of the studio space.
Over the past four years, Sydney has actively participated in numerous exhibitions and shows, with her journey culminating in her participation in Brevard College's Senior Exhibition in April 2024. Her body of work for this exhibition comprised eight vibrant and eclectic sculptures inspired by the lively and kitschy designs of the 1950s and 60s. Her artistic and academic prowess has been acknowledged through features in Brevard College's art and literary journal, Chiaroscuro, and several academic awards for her sculptural works.
